Chokecherries are not only beautiful, but they are also packed with Vitamins A & C, Iron, Calcium and Magnesium, which makes them especially beneficial for skin and heart health. These small black "cherries" are typically harvested, cooked, and then strained to prevent consumption of the pits and to turn the remaining juice into jam via a canning process. I didn't have supplies for that, so I pitted a thousand by hand and cooked them to make a sauce to enjoy with everything from oatmeal to non-dairy ice cream. Future projects will be to dry the chokecherries, or to powder-ize (or puree) them so they can be mixed with Lunaria's Restore Youth Mask for a topical antioxidant boost.
